Speed Learning – The Fundamental Building Block for Speed Learning

Today we will talk about how to learn something really fast. Now, I’m sorry because I may disappoint you. If you are here to learn something that you really don’t want to learn and learn it really fast, this advice is not going to help you.

What I want to convey to you is the fact that INTEREST is the key to learning things incredibly fast and actually retaining them long-term.

The Secret of Speed Learning – Interest

Interest is the most FUNDAMENTAL necessity for education to occur.

Thousands of years ago, our ancient cultures totally understood this. Scholars used to be groups of people who shared common interests and they would get together to take their common-shared interests and explore it profoundly and deeply together.

It did not necessarily mean they were in a school where they learned history, math, science, literature and were force fed everything.

A lot of the scholars in the past cultures were simply people who had a great interest in something. They used that interest to FUEL their fire, discover greater and greater things and reach new heights with their learning.

Interest is the key to learning things fast and effectively.

For example, in my own life, I do not remember much of college. I studied civil engineering. I could tell you the basics. I can have a conversation about it. I could maybe rattle off a half a dozen formulas…

But I learned HUNDREDS of formulas. I learned DOZENS of problem-solving techniques, steps and processes. And I could hardly tell you any of them today because I was doing it because someone told me that was what I was supposed to do. That was as much as I knew at that point: “I’ve got to be a civil engineer.”

On the other hand, I can talk to you all day about internet marketing, relationships, social dynamics, food and health, nutrition, spirituality, meditation and yoga. When I learned about these topics, I sucked them in and they stayed with me…

Why?

Because I was interested!

You know this to be true as well. You probably have a friend who can rattle off every sport statistics in the world, but if you taught him some calculus, he would be COMPLETELY oblivious. I am sure there are some things in your life that you can relate this to.

So, the main advice I want to give you is to learn what you are INTERESTED in. If you are not interested in something, you should take it as a sign that maybe you are not living your life’s purpose. Maybe you are not on your TRUE path.

If you are FORCED to learn something that you don’t want to learn, I would encourage you to question whether or not this is where your life should be going.

We ALL have things that we are greatly interested in.

But school really killed learning for us. School made us think that learning is not fun. Learning is SO fun when you are learning something that you WANT to learn.

It is an innate ability for human beings. Child’s curiosity is incredibly potent and it fuels this fire, the curiosity, the interest.

But when we finally go to school and are forced to learn all these subjects that we don’t want to learn and we lose interest.

Now, school could have been the opposite for you. You could have absolutely loved it and that is your life’s purpose. But for a lot of people, they were forced to learn subjects they were not interested in and it deterred them from, not only their own life’s purpose, but also from learning. They associated school and learning as the same thing.

So, if you can understand that interest is the key to learning you can use this knowledge to fuel more accurate, more active and more profound learning in the future.
